Multimodality treatment
Multimodality treatment is necessary for some individuals as different mechanisms are used to treat specific issues such as fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, uneven skin tone or texture. In this specific case, we wanted to treat this individual’s deep set forehead lines as using a wrinkle relaxer on its own was not providing a satisfactory result. We added Solid PDO Threads within the dermis of the forehead to initiate the stimulation of collagen to give the skin more strength and structure and also used Laser Resurfacing to promote regeneration of the top layer of the skin to soften the appearance of already deep set lines. The addition of these two treatments, with a neurotoxin such as Botox gave us excellent results after a treatment period of 3-6 months!
Anti-Wrinkle Injections LA –
Almost Magic and Flat Out Fantastic
Anti-wrinkle injectables are composed of neurotoxins that are part of the botulinum toxin family. Each product is based on a slightly different molecular formulation, but they all work in the same way:
- They block the nerve impulses within the muscles
- They temporarily paralyze muscles contractions
- They soften and prevent the appearance of wrinkles within the overlying skin
- Existing creases are smoothed out, and premature lines and wrinkles are prevented
- Wrinkles are reduced in a treatment time of approximately 10 minutes
Panteha works with four popular and effective anti-wrinkle injectables – Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport, and Xeomin in Beverly Hills, LA.
Botox Treatments
One of the most popular and widely known brand names, Botox, treats a range of medical and cosmetic concerns. When treating wrinkles, the upkeep of Botox and other toxins alike, is recommended every 3-4 months for the best results . If you are an athlete or naturally have a high metabolism, neurotoxin treatments tend to wear off quicker, within 2-3 months.
Crow’s Feet
Treatment area: oculi muscles, outside corners of the eyes
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 10-22 units
Botox can be injected directly around crow’s feet wrinkles with the use of fine needles. You may request a topical anesthetic to help numb the area so that the injections are more comfortable. We also use cryotherapy to enhance comfort and minimize bruising and swelling. With this treatment you can expect:
- The treatment itself only takes a few minutes.
- The wrinkles around your eyes will minimize
- This treatment also lifts your brows and minimizes the lines under your eyes
Frown Lines, “11’s”
Treatment area: Glabella ( Corrugator and Procerus m.)
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 12-24 units
Toxin injections can effectively:
- Reduce and/or prevent the fine lines and wrinkles present during activation and relaxation of this muscle group
- Reduce or prevent intentional or autonomic brow furrowing
- Relax and lift the brows when strategically treated in conjunction with neighboring and corresponding muscle groups
- Minimize the appearance of a strong, protruding brow ridge
An added advantage of this treatment is looking more approachable and less angry- who doesn’t want that?! This is an area of high movement and if you are known to frown often and without realizing it, results can last 2-3 months.
Forehead Lines
Treatment area: frontalis muscle, Forehead
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 6-20 units
The benefits of Botox to treat forehead lines are:
- It can completely erase the new onset of horizontal lines at rest
- It can relax and smooth the appearance of deep set, pre-existing wrinkles on the forehead
- It is the most popular region to inject as a preventative treatment for wrinkles along with frown lines, and crow’s feet
- The dosage for this area is broad as it depends on the severity of your fine lines and how much movement you would like to continue to have after your treatment
Bunny Lines
Treatment area: nose, nasalis muscle
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 3-4 units
Bunny lines refer to the lines that appear on the sides of your nose when you wrinkle it. These lines are formed with repeated use of certain facial expressions and can be effectively reduced with Botox treatments. Botox is a minimally invasive procedure that will temporarily relax the facial muscles.
Brow Lift
Treatment area: tails of the eyebrow, orbicularis oculi
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 3-4 units per brow
A Botox brow lift can enhance the region around the eyes and give the appearance of a more pronounced arch and elevated brow tail. This is a mild enhancement and is usually performed along side a frown and crows feet treatment as these area’s work in harmony to produce a more youthful appearance to the upper face and shape of the brows. For best results, we recommend getting this treatment as an add-on when treating frown, forehead lines and the crow’s feet.
Nasal Tip Lift
Treatment area: base of nose, septi nasi muscle
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 3-4 units
With a little neurotoxin, you can lift the tip of your nose to prevent it from looking droopy and wide. The muscle relaxant is injected directly at the base of your nose and into the septi nasi muscle which is responsible for pulling the nose downward. When the muscle is relaxed and the pull is released, it slims and elevates the tip giving it a perkier look. This treatment lasts 3-4 months and requires a relatively small amount of Botox.
Gummy Smile
Treatment area: nasolabial fold, levator labii muscles and zygomaticus muscle
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 4-6 units
Botox treatments can be used to treat a ‘gummy’ smile, which refers to the excessive gingival display when you smile. Botox and other neurotoxins are injected strategically within the nasolabial fold where the two levator labii muscles and the zygomaticus major muscle meet. These muscles are directly responsible for elevating the central upper lip during the active phase of smiling. When this muscle group is relaxed, the upper lip decreases its mobility, minimizing the ‘gum show’ and thus creating a more appealing smile.
Lip Flip
Treatment area: lip border, orbicularis oris muscle
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 6-8 units
A lip flip refers to a quick procedure where the lip border ever so slightly everts or flips up creating the illusion of a fuller or more demarcated top lip. Top benefits of this procedure are:
- Gives the illusion of a shorter philtral column which is the zone between the mid-upper lip and the base of the nose.
- Is desirable for individuals who are not ready for fillers and want a conservative change to their upper lip
- Ideal for those who already have lip fillers but would like to lift their lip border up and out.
- This treatment will not affect the appearance of your smile or how you pucker your lips, however, movement can feel slightly stagnant or stiff for the first couple of weeks after your treatment.
Peau d’Orange, “Orange Peel”
Treatment area: chin, mentalis muscle
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Botox and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 4-6 units
A dimpled, uneven appearance of the chin when talking and during micro-movements of the lower face is called Peau d’Orange. This pebbly appearance occurs due to overactivity and contraction of the mentalis muscle which is responsible for chin movement. The textured resemblance of an orange peel gives it its nick name “Peau d’Orange”. Even though, this citrus is a delightful treat, most likely, you wouldn’t want want your chin to resemble that of an antioxidant, Vitamin-C bearing food. After being treated, the muscles relax and the overlaying dermis remains looking smooth without affecting movement of a smile or laugh, chewing and other important functions of the lower face.
Nefertiti Lift
Treatment area: lower face, neck, platysmal muscles
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 40-80 units
The Nefertiti lift gives the lower face and neck a lifted and more rejuvenated appearance. It addresses the platysmal muscles, which are the vertical, superficial muscles that run from the base of the neck to the jaw. The function of this muscle is to pull down the lower face. With aging, the constant pull equates to a sagging jawline, enhanced jowls, horizontal neck lines, marionettes and a loss of definition and contour within the jawline.
The toxin is injected along the mandible and within the areas of the neck where the platysma is most prominent upon activation. This procedure takes 5-10 days to take effect and patients will begin to see positive changes such as:
- Less down-turning of the corners of their mouth
- Decreased jowls
- A more contoured jawline
- The minimization of horizontal lines on the neck
- A less profound “turkey neck”
Hyperhidrosis in Los Angeles
Treatment area: underarms, palms, soles of feet
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Dysport, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: The units recommended should say 30-50 units per axilla.
Hyperhidrosis is also known as excessive sweating and it can impact your quality of life. Botox treatments are particularly effective as it blocks the nerve signals that are responsible for sweating. This means that it will stop your sweat glands from producing sweat. During the procedure ice is typically used for maximum comfort, however topical numbing cream can also be utilized upon request.
TMJ Issues
Treatment area: masseter and/or temporalis muscle(s)
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 15- 30 units on each side
When there is an issue with the articulation of this joint, problematic cushioning, or overactivity of the joint it can often cause:
- Pain
- Tension
- jaw clicking
- Incomplete closure of the mouth
Toxins can treat the symptoms of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders as it helps to relieve:
- Jaw tension
- Headaches
- Teeth grinding
- Lockjaw in cases of severe stress
Botox is generally injected into the chewing muscle or the masseter muscle and can also be injected into the temporalis muscle in severe cases to decrease the size and strength of the muscle and prevent excessive clenching and grinding forces that can further damage and aggravate the joint. The chewing ability of the masseter muscle is still retained as it does not require all the force and strength it is capable of. The best part about this treatment is that it has the longest efficacy, 6 months, in comparison with other areas in the face where results last 3-4 months.
Facial Slimming
Treatment area: masseter and/or temporalis muscle(s)
Toxin used: Jeuveau, Botox, and Xeomin
Recommended dosage: 15- 30 units on each side
When treating the masseter muscle with Botox, patients also appreciate facial slimming as an aesthetic perk of their treatment. Overuse of the masseter muscle by clenching and grinding can cause the face to look boxy, but the relaxation of this muscle provides:
- The easing of pain and tension
- A slimmer, heart-shaped facial structure
Another positive side effect, aside from pain relief, is that you may notice more smiling – certainly helped by the fact your pain is diminished! The best part about this treatment is its 6-month efficacy, which is the longest of the treatments when compared with other areas in the face where results last 3-4 months.
Chronic Migraine Headaches:
Treatment area(s): head and neck muscles (corrugator/procerus, frontalis, temporalis, occipitalis, cervical paraspinal and trapezius muscles)
Toxin used: Botox
Recommended dosage: up to 155 units
Botox is approved for preventative treatment of chronic migraines. A chronic migraine is defined as experiencing more than 15 headaches per month. The recommended treatment dosage is 155 units for a complete regimen of 31 injections at specified locations within in head and neck muscles. The specific sites that are indicated for injection of Botox for relief of migraine headaches can be augmented to a minimal dose depending on:
- Severity
- Frequency
- Typology
- Location of the migraine
Migraine relief can begin 4 weeks after your first treatment or as soon as your second treatment, which is typically timed 12 weeks from the initial session. It is recommended to continue treatments spaced 3 months apart to get complete control over the severity and frequency of your migraine headaches.
Risks
Neurotoxins are considered to be a safe and effective treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, as well as other conditions such as excessive sweating or migraines.
