Rosacea Treatment in Beverly Hills – What Is It and How Can I Treat It?

What Rosacea treatment can do for you?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that can cause redness on the face, visible veins or capillaries, textural changes such as facial coarseness, pus-filled bumps or inflammatory eruptions that resemble acne. They usually appear across the center of the face on the cheeks, nose, and forehead. It can cause pain, burning, stinging, swelling and a dry appearance and typically lasts a minimum of 3 months before fitting the diagnostic criteria of Rosacea. If the nose is affected, it may change the shape and size of the nose making it appear larger and bulky (phymatous). This condition generally makes people feel self-conscious or unhappy with the appearance of their skin.

While there is no cure, rosacea can be maintained with consistent skin care practices and the upkeep of treatments in a medical office and at home, those living with rosacea can maintain the appearance of their skin and live happily in their own skin.

Even though you may think you are alone in this, Rosacea is a fairly common skin disorder affecting over 16 million Americans.

What Causes Rosacea?

It’s unclear what exactly brings rosacea on, but scientists believe it is a combination of hereditary and environmental factors such as vascular abnormalities, gene exposure, dermal regeneration, climactic or chemical exposure. Despite some beliefs, it is not caused by bad hygiene, or related toacne.

It is more prevalent in those who are females over 30 years old and who have lighter skin, as well as people who smoke or have a family history of rosacea.

If you have rosacea, you may find it worsens in cycles, and can be brought on or made worse by hot or spicy foods, exercise, wind, extreme temperatures, certain cosmetic products, or exposure to sunlight, the latter of which is hard to avoid here in sunny California!

  • Radiofrequency/Radioablation: Uses radiofrequency technology to emit energy into vessels to shrink and eliminate the area which gives rise to flushing, redness or visible vessels.
  • Injectables: such as botox can help patients with a type of rosacea called flushing rosacea.
  • Medications and Skincare: Topical medications (creams and gels) such as metronidazole, azelaic acid or brimonidine can be prescribed by Panteha to help reduce the effects of rosacea. Panteha also carries sunscreens by Isdin, which have active ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that deflects UVA and UVB light, rather than absorbing it into the dermis and increasing the temperature of the skin which can trigger rosacea flare-ups.

Panteha knows how important aftercare and upkeep is, and as part of your consultations, she will also include ways you can help keep rosacea at bay at home, such as using prescription medication or creams, which non-irritant skincare to use, as well as suitable sunscreens and moisturizers.
